I've decided to join WirePop (http://www.wirepop.com).

Don't pout!  Not yet.  Let me finish what I have to say, in a simple, comprehensive bullet list outline!

  • About WirePop
    • A paysite for webcomics
      • Some argue that this is a paradox, that webcomics are inherently free
      • WirePop and some other paysites argue subscriptions to paysites offers consistent updates and a high standard in art and storytelling

    • Subscription fees are:
      • $2.95 per month
      • $24.95 per year

    • Details include:
      • Comic archives are only displayed for subscribers
      • The artist can choose to allow a limited number of segments as free samples
      • New installments however are always FREE during the week in which they're released
        • Theoretically, one can choose not to subscribe to WirePop and still follow a comic in its entirety as long as they consistently check for the comic's updates

  • Why did I choose to join?
    • I want to fulfill my fantasy of being published one day
      • WirePop's artists have been noticed by major publishing companies such as TokyoPop and offered publication contracts
      • I would do (nearly) whatever it takes to reach this goal

    • Working professionally will give me the discipline of updating on time!
    • I could use some money
      • Due to some issues with my college application, I might not be getting financial aid, in which case I'll have to scrounge up the money myself for my tuition
      • Whether or not my financial aid goes through, my car has also broken down last month, and when school starts, problems may arise!  So I need to get a new one.
      • WirePop won't pay me much, obviously, but any little bit helps!

  • Directions of Destiny is starting anew
    • Another "redirection", so to speak.
      • Directions of Destiny has a bit of a...history, when it comes to revamps.  I mean to say, it's happened a lot.  I would like to think this is the last revamp, though.
      • Unlike previous revamps, this one is not simply cosmetic; the script, story, and characters have all undergone changes of varying degrees

    • Why?
      • The quality of the comic was not to my own personal liking
      • The quality of the comic was not to Antarctic Press' liking either when I submitted it to them back in July.
        • At the time I was considering having AP publish the comic in print
        • They're still a possibility, but right now I'm trying out other options

      • Due to issues which happened over summer that can best be described as political, the comic needed to be drastically changed in order for all involved parties to be respected.

  • What does this mean to Directions of Destiny readers?
    • Because the comic is starting over, whether current readers subscribe or not will not make a difference at first
      • While the first new chapter is released, subscribers and non-subscribers alike will be able to follow it
      • The first chapter will remain free as a sample

    • As the comic starts to build an archive past the first chapter, however...
      • Subscribers will be able access this archive
      • Non-subscribers will not be able to access this archive
        • If you miss an update, you've missed it.
        • (Hint: you can download the pages as they're released so you can retain your own personal archive of the comic, but keep that to yourself).

    • Side stories of Directions of Destiny will be updating on the website and available for free
      • An arc of these stories will be written by Rachel Rivera, who's an infinitely better writer than myself, while still illustrated by yours truly.
      • Other side stories written by myself will also be put up eventually
      • Updates for the side stories will not however be guaranteed on a weekly basis because of time constraints
        • Side story updates may also be smaller on average than main story updates
        • The main story running on WirePop will take priority
        • Will still make the best efforts to update!!

  • In conclusion...
    • Readers may continue following the main story of Directions of Destiny without paying as long as they're diligent with checking on updates
    • Side stories (written by the superior Rachel Rivera!!) will always be available for free
    • Updates on WirePop will begin within the next few weeks!
    • While you can get away with being stingy however, showing support by subscribing to WirePop with Directions of Destiny selected as your referral will be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully that cleared up some things!  If you have any more questions pertaining to this, make a reply and ask!
